2008 Players Cup Tournament

Master Leon Preston’s Northwest TKD Players’ Cup is always one of the most anticipated taekwondo tournaments in the country because of the quality of teams and players it attracts from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Canada.

This year was no exception as some of the nation’s top fighters made their way to Shoreline Community College to demonstrate their indomitable spirit!

This year’s event was special with the homecoming and introduction of the individuals who pioneered “sport taekwondo” in Washington State and went on to accomplish unparalleled success:

• + Master Victor Solier (6x World Kickboxing Champion)
  A hero in Puerto Rico, he fought and beat the best fighters from around the world.
  Long-time Washington State Junior Elite Team Coach, Victor now coaches & promotes professional MMA fighters in Poulsbo, WA.
• + Maurice Smith (16x Kickboxing Champion. UFC Heavyweight Champion)
  One of the most accomplished fighters in the world in any style (boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, and MMA), Maurice trained and traveled with Victor & Leon and helped bring sport taekwondo to Washington.
• + Master Chris Chong (Chong’s Taekwondo, Vancouver, Canada)- National Coach in Canada.
• + Dave Turley, one of Washington’s first National Champions, who still competes Nationally.
• + Leo Leung, another of Washington’s early Champions on the national scene and early trainer of international athletes.
• + Jasmine, Washington’s first female National Champion.
